From June 30 to July 1, members of the planned Collaborative Research Center (CRC) came together for their annual retreat and strategic planning meeting, setting a shared course for future research on reduced penetrance in neurogenetic disorders.
Reduced penetrance—the phenomenon in which individuals carry pathogenic mutations without developing the associated disease—remains a major challenge in understanding the endogenous and exogenous factors that influence disease manifestation. It also has important implications for personalized counseling, risk assessment, and the development of targeted therapeutic strategies.
The meeting provided an important opportunity to align scientific goals, discuss methodological approaches, and coordinate interdisciplinary collaboration across projects. By bringing together expertise from different fields, the retreat helped strengthen the foundation for continued research into the mechanisms underlying reduced penetrance and its translational relevance.
ProtectMove values this collaborative exchange as an essential step toward advancing research in neurogenetics and movement disorders.
