On November 7, 2023, Dr. habil. Marija Dulovic Mahlow delivered her inaugural lecture entitled “TAOK1-associated neurodevelopmental disorder: from the lab to the clinic and back.” As a former key member of the Institute’s Research Section “Genetics of Rare Diseases” under the leadership of Prof. Katja Lohmann from 2015 to 2020, Dr. Dulovic Mahlow has made important contributions to the genetics of movement disorders. Her work has advanced our understanding of dystonia and Parkinson’s disease and helped strengthen the link between genetic discovery and clinical practice. In her lecture, Dr. Dulovic Mahlow highlighted the close interplay between basic research and patient care. She offered valuable insights into the genetic mechanisms underlying neurodevelopmental disorders and their relevance for diagnosis, treatment, and future research. ProtectMove warmly congratulates Dr. Dulovic Mahlow on this important achievement and on her continued contributions to the field. Her work reflects the shared commitment to translating genetic research into clinical insight for the benefit of patients and their families.
